Operation Ashbringer - News regarding banhammer

Dear Community,

Over the months our GM team has been able to detect, track and sanction unauthorized gold trafficking with tools that are constantly increasing in refinement since launch. However, Operation Ashbringer  that was ongoing the past week has finaly bear fruit. 

Some staff members worked hard during night in order to gather data. The team banned gold storage characters , gold farming bots and c.o.d mail scammers that have been bothering the community for quite some time. 

Here are some stats regarding the operation:

- Over 40k gold flowing between accounts
- Hundreds of valueable items
- Over 110 Characters banned for being involved in gold trafficing


As with all operations of this kind, there might have been mistakes with the logs. if you're banned, and believe that a mistake has been made, please make a thread in the Ban Appeal section, and we should be able to resolve the issue within 1 day.

If you are considering buying gold, then read this first:
Where does goldsellers get their gold from and why is it so important to keep it off the market? Here are the 3 most common ways that they acquire gold:

1. From hacked player account. When you buy gold, you might be stealing it straight from the hands of a legitimate player's account. 
   
2. Botting. They use farming bots in outland zones, sell all the items they farm and send the gold to their gold bank.
   
3. Fly/Teleport hacking. This is probably the most advanced method. They use two accounts. One of them is the bank character and it's often parked in Exodar. The other account uses teleport -and flyhacking to get underneath the map. It then flies around outland and complete all available quests that doesn't require any fighting, but are mostly "go talk to that guy" or "use that item over there". Obviously this is done at an incredible speed since it will just teleport to wherever it needs to go. Now the last steps are that it teleports back to Exodar, trades all gold to the bank character. Then it deletes the flyhacking character, creates a new one, boost it to 60, and now it will be able to do all those quests again.
   

Luckily we have systems to detect all of the above methods in place, but no anticheat will ever be 100% foolproof. 
We hope that the above points will deterr you from buying gold and support the people that are trying to ruin the servers economy.
